An access log is a text file which contains a thorough report on all the files accessed by your site visitors. All the files which were requested in one way or another shall be included, so if you have a PHP script app and a visitor opens just the home page, for example, you may find numerous files inside the log. This is because there are things on the home page which are embedded - parts of other web pages, images, and so forth. These files will be listed inside the access log, so that you can get a full picture of the way your website functions. The information is in plain text format, so the logs are often called "raw data" as well. An access log contains the name of each and every requested file, the path to it, the date it was accessed, in addition to the user’s IP address, Internet browser and OS. More information, including the referrer website, is typically provided too. A log file can be processed by various desktop apps for statistical purposes as an addition to the web statistics provided by your web server.
Access Log Manager in Semi-dedicated Hosting
If you host your Internet sites inside a semi-dedicated server account with our company, you'll have the option to trigger or disable the generation of access logs with just a few clicks within your Hepsia hosting Control Panel. You'll find this feature in the Access/Error Logs section, which you can access after you sign in. All it takes for our system to start generating logs is a single click on the On button which you will see there. The feature can be triggered independently for any website no matter if it uses a domain or a subdomain and you shall find a complete list of all the hosts within that section. Any access log can be downloaded as a text file with only a click and you can then view it manually or use some software on your PC. The log generation can be disabled by simply switching the On option to Off within the Logs section of your Control Panel.
