In case you use a mailbox with your own personal domain instead of a third-party one, you will be able to use an email software application such as Thunderbird, Apple Mail or Outlook to check and manage your email messages. The advantage of using such applications is that they also offer other features, such as calendars and address books. There are two different email delivery protocols that you can select from when you configure the app of your choosing to access your mailbox – POP3 and IMAP. With the first one, all messages that are received will be downloaded on your device – desktop or mobile, unless you choose to store a copy on the email server. With the second protocol, the messages will be displayed locally at your end, but they will stay on the server at all times, so you can set up the email account on multiple devices and access the email messages from any place. You’ll also be able to see old emails if there is an issue with your Internet connectivity, which is an enormous advantage over a web-based service.
POP3 IMAP E-mail Accounts in Semi-dedicated Hosting
You can select between the POP3 and the IMAP email retrieval protocols if you’ve got a semi-dedicated server account with our company. We support both, so you can decide what to do with your emails – to download them on your home computer or to leave them on the server and to view them from different devices. The latter option will also permit multiple people to access the same mailbox – in case you are hosting a corporate site on our servers, for example. You can find auto-config files in the Email Manager section of our Hepsia Control Panel, which will enable you to automatically set up everything in a software app of your preference – Thunderbird, Outlook or Apple Mail, so you will not have to modify anything manually. If you have a smartphone, you can set up any mailbox just as easily – just follow our exhaustive tutorials for iPhone and Android. To make everything easier, our educational articles include step-by-step screenshots.
